Price
$20 per player
Format
5-round Swiss Paired, G/25+5 (25 minutes per player, with 5 second bonus on each move). Participants will compete in sections based on NWSRS ratings, but will be paired based on Lichess Classical Rating. Unrated players will be assigned sections based on their grade. Passwords for each section (U600, U900, U1200, and Open) will be emailed one day before the tournament.
Equipment
Players must use a computer or chromebook (not a tablet or phone) with a webcam. We will not be able to provide support for players using tablets or phones. Prizes will not be given to players who play without video. Players must also have a Lichess Account, which can be created for free at lichess.org. It is the player’s responsibility to ensure their equipment functions properly through the duration of the tournament.
Prizes
Trophies for 1st through 5th place in each section. Medals for plus scores. Best costume awards. Check or Treat Prizes delivered electronically every round, sponsored by Coaches Matt Zavortink and Chad Lykins. Trophies and Medals available for contactless pickup in the parking lot of Hayhurst Elementary on Sunday November 1 from 2:00PM-4:00PM. Those living more than 25 miles from Hayhurst may have their awards mailed.

(Optional) Saturday October 24: Practice Tournament
We will hold an unrated, two round practice tournament to help people get familiar with signing in online and using the video call. Since this is just practice, we will use a shorter time control (G10+5). Participation is optional but highly recommended for players new to online tournaments. Password and Zoom link sent Friday October 23 at 9:00PM.

Fair Play
Players must read and agree to the OSCF Fair Play Agreement. Games will be monitored by video and reviewed after the tournament for irregularities. Players who break the agreement may face forfeiture of games, expulsion from the tournament, and sanctions by OSCF, lichess.org, and US Chess.
About
Hayhurst Chess Club is coached by OSCF Vice President Chad Lykins and USCF National Master Matt Zavortink. For the 2020/2021 school year, Hayhurst is open to all students, regardless of where they attend school.
