The workshop will provide the historical origins of countertransference and how the different types of countertransference can be used in clinical settings. Both didactic and experiential teaching methods are used. 

Who Should Attend: 

Social Workers, Mental Health Counselors, Creative Arts Therapists, Marriage and Family Therapists, and any professional that is working in the mental health field

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will gain an understanding of the historical origins of countertransference
  • Participants will be able to describe the differences between transference and countertransference
  • Participants will learn about the various forms of countertransference
  • Participants will be able to identify countertransference and utilize in clinical work

Laura T. Rivela, LCSW-R, BCD has over twenty-two years of experience as a behavioral health provider, educator, and director. She has been an invited presenter and guest speaker at several conferences and workshops.
