Please join us on Wednesday, September 30th for our webinar, "Guardianship, Alternatives to Guardianship, Estate Planning, and Special Needs Trusts."

Why should someone have a guardianship?  What are some alternatives to guardianship?  Why is estate planning important for family members of those who have disabilities?  What is a special needs trust and what types are there?  What is the DDETF and what are ABLE accounts?  This presentation will address all of these issues in a simple, informal way.

Learning Objectives (Info, tools, and skills attendees will receive):

  • Why to file for guardianship or why to choose an alternative
  • Why estate planning is important
  • What types of special needs trust is exist, and why they are important

Attendees that fully participate in events and/or complete training programs will receive a certificate to document  full participation as back up for billing purposes.  Wise is required to monitor participation in our courses and provide reports to our funding sources so that they may utilize these records in the course of their audits of programs. These reports may include actual time spent by attendee name, event/training title, county and state. Reports are provided to ensure there is documented proof of the appropriate use of government funds for the purposes of professional development.

Christy Thompson Ibrahim

Christy Thompson Ibrahim, the owner of the firm, has been an attorney at the firm since 1998. She is a graduate of Brigham Young University and the University of Washington School of Law. She had a brother with Down Syndrome, and her mother, Margaret-Lee Thompson, started the King County Parent Coalition. She has taught Disability Law at the UW Law school for over 10 years. She is the editor or co-editor of three disability law textbooks. She recently completed a term on the board of the Arc of Washington, and she was inducted in to the Public Interest Law Association's Hall of Fame at the UW Law school. Christy's favorite part of her practice is meeting with clients and their families.
