COVID and Collections Care - Webinar (12/09/20)

The Northeast Document Conservation Center
brings you strategies for dealing with access to special materials during the pandemic! 

This 90-minute webinar will include background information on the coronavirus and CDC guidelines; recommendations regarding handling and care of collections materials, with an emphasis on safe quarantine practices rather than disinfection; continuity of operations resources as they relate to the current pandemic; and a 30-minute question and answer session with an NEDCC Preservation Specialist and a Conservator.

Virtual Trainers: Sean Ferguson and Tahe Zalal

Sean is a Preservation Specialist for the Northeast Document Conservation Center. From his home office in Alexandria, Virginia, he provides preservation information and outreach to clients nationwide, including assessments, consultations, training programs, and disaster assistance. From July 2018 to June 2019, he served as NEDCC’s Performing Arts Readiness Emergency Preparedness Consultant for New England, providing emergency preparedness consultations and training to performing arts organizations. Sean also represented NEDCC on the COSTEP MA (Coordinated Statewide Emergency Preparedness in Massachusetts) Executive Committee from May 2017 to July 2019. 

Tahe Zalal has worked in the field of conservation since 1999 and specializes in conservation of works of fine art on paper, rare manuscripts, archival documents, maps, and objects on vellum. She has extensive experience in advising clients on treatment options and in developing proposals.

Based from her office in Greensboro, NC, Tahe travels throughout the US, serving as an advocate for preservation and conservation by advising museum, library, and archive professionals on caring for their institutions' collections. She enthusiastically shares her expertise with every kind of organization, from volunteer-run historic sites to large collecting institutions.
