Halloween Howl Hikes 

Please read through the following acknowledgement of risk before proceeding with registration.

The Participant(s) is aware of and acknowledges potential risks associated with the activities including the following:

  • The risk of COVID-19 transmission
  • Exposure to cold, wet weather or the effects of heat and strong sunlight, or strong winds.
  • The possibility of becoming lost and the lack of access to medical assistance in an emergency.
  • Injuries related to encounters with plants and animals in the environment
  • Vehicle accidents.
  • Noxious vegetation, flying rock chips, vandalism to vehicles or theft or personal property.
  • Other hazards including, without limitation, hypothermia, allergens, noxious gases, electrocution, shock, chemicals (including, without limitation, herbicides, pesticides, acid and caustic bases), flying rock chips, vandalism, or theft of property, and any manner of injury or loss whatsoever arising there from.
  • Foot, knee and other leg injuries (e.g., blister, sprains, strains)
  • Acute or overuse injuries/conditions
  • Allergic reactions to natural substances in the outdoor environment (e.g., bee or wasp stings, grass/plant allergies)
  • Psychological injury due to anxiety or embarrassment (e.g., re: lack of fitness or skill, fears of nature/wilderness)
  • Weather changes creating adverse conditions
  • Equipment machinery or other devices including, without limitation, any equipment deployed in respect of the field activities or otherwise and any manner of injury or loss of any nature whatsoever arising therefrom including, without limitation, loss or injury arising from the use, misuse, malfunction or breakdown of any equipment, machinery or similar device that may be deployed or used.
  • Any or all of these risks may result in bodily injury or death.

I am and all of my guests are in a satisfactory state of health to undertake the hiking activity. I will identify any health concerns that would affect my ability to participate in the hiking activity to the ASCCA prior to my participation. I have received all of the prescribed immunizations. I will be responsible for bringing my own prescribed medication (e.g. Epi-pen, inhalers etc.) on the travel with me and for taking the medication as needed.

I am aware of the potential for bodily injury or illness (including contraction of COVID-19) through contact or interaction with others who may have been exposed to COVID-19; close proximity to or contact with surfaces, equipment, fixtures, or other objects that may be infected with COVID-19 or other communicable illnesses. I am responsible for being aware, and strictly abiding by all guidelines set out by Alberta Health Services, Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area and any other relevant third party organizers.
