Working with Native Survivors of Sex Trafficking

Across our region, the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women (CSVANW) has seen an increase of trafficking cases involving our most vulnerable, our Native women and children.

This training will provide in-depth information on effective strategies for identifying and responding to Native women and children being trafficked in New Mexico's tribal communities. The target audience includes direct service providers, case managers, first responders, and advocates. The training will focus on the following areas:

  • An overview of victim rights and laws, including federal and state laws

  • Introduction to understanding cultural humility when working with Native survivors

  • Explore strategies for improving response and coordination among tribal, state, and federal service agencies

  • Ways to support victims and survivors through safety planning and follow up protocol.
