FIS TD Update 2020

North American FIS TD Update 2020

Dear  Ski Friends,

We trust that you are all well and healthy.

We would like to invite you to attend the 2020 North American FIS TD Working  Group TD update.   As with most things these days, the event will be held online.    We will provide access links, homework and problems closer to the event.  Look for them in your email inbox in @ 1 week.

We will have two meetings;

1) Friday October 23, 2020 at 8:30 PM ET as an opportunity to connect with the platform and to be sure it functions on your system.  Surely, there may be some socialization at this meeting which we invite.

2) Saturday October 24, 2020 11:00 AM ET - This will be our formal update.  Please be sure to login early as we expect a large crowd.

We request that you keep your mics muted and keep your webcam playing unless you have issues with bandwidth at your location.    If required to speak or to  present, be sure to turn on your mic.

We will be sending you several items to complete prior to the event.  You will receive Homework which will be a series of EET calculations.   Keep in mind there are recent rules in how to process  EET calculations,  please put the effort in to make sure you do the work correctly.  As part of this homework, you will be required to process the calculations and upload images of your work.  Additionally, we will be sending you each a quiz to complete prior to the update. Lastly, we will be assigning groups to work on jury problems.    These will be random groups of registered participants, you will be required to come together on a zoom meeting (or whatever platform your group prefers), to decide your outcome with each of the 5 problems in advance of the Saturday 10/24 meeting.    At random, we will select 2 groups to provide their answers on each of the problems.   You will need to assign a lead person to respond from your group.  Please be prepared!

Our plan is to make this as efficient as possible and to limit our time on the Saturday call to 2-3 hours maximum.  if we are all prepared, have done our homework and are organized, we feel this can be effective and easily accomplished.

Please keek in mind this event is by invitation only,  invitation requests can be made to Paul & Doug.

We look forward to running an informative and effective experience.

Sincerely,

Doug Campbell (CAN)

Paul Van Slyke (USA)
