The final and tentative outcomes from the election will have a direct impact on our child care, early learning, poverty, food insufficiency and all other needed supports for California’s working families.  On November 12, come prepared to hear the insights of what happened on election day and the potential opportunities and challenges facing us moving forward.  The day will be broken up into two separate panels.  Panel one will delve into the details and outcomes from November 3rd while the second panel will provide insight on what the legislative and budgetary landscape for 2021 will look like.

    Richard Temple, Executive Vice President, McNally Temple Associates, Inc.
    One of the state's leading political analysts with over 30 years experience in government  and public relations. Responsible for survey research, polling analysis and strategic planning. Graduated from the University of California, Davis with a degree in political science. Worked in the California Legislature for over a decade as a Political Director and Caucus Chief of Staff before joining the firm in 1992.
  • Outcomes from the November 3rd election: A breakdown of numbers and demographics 
    David Metz, Partner and President, Fairbank, Maslin, Maullin, Metz & Associates
    FM3 Partner and President Dave Metz has provided opinion research and strategic guidance to hundreds of non-profit organizations, government agencies, businesses, and political campaigns in all 50 states since joining the firm in 1998.

    Lenny Goldberg, Executive Director, California Tax Reform Association
    Lenny Goldberg is the executive director of the California Tax Reform Association. He is also the owner of Lenny Goldberg and Associates, a Sacramento-based lobbying firm. He has been a member of the California Commission on Tax Policy in the New Economy and has served on the board of Citizens for Tax Justice.

  • Insights of what happened on election day and impacts moving forward
    Dan Walters, Journalist, CalMatters

    Dan Walters has been a journalist for nearly 60 years, spending all but a few of those years working for California newspapers.  Walters later became the Union’s Capitol bureau chief, and in 1981 began writing the state’s only daily newspaper column devoted to California political, economic and social events. In 1984, he and the column moved to The Sacramento Bee. He has written more than 9,000 columns about California and its politics and his column has appeared in many other California newspapers. Walters has written about California and its politics for a number of other publications, including The Wall Street Journal and the Christian Science Monitor. In 1986, his book, “The New California: Facing the 21st Century,” was published in its first edition. He is also the founding editor of the “California Political Almanac,” the co-author of a book on lobbying entitled “The Third House: Lobbyists, Money and Power in Sacramento,” and contributed chapters to two other books, “Remaking California” and “The New Political Geography of California. He also has been a frequent guest on national television news shows, commenting on California politics.
