Informing Improvements to Career and Technical Education Programs

Join state and district leaders, researchers, and other stakeholders for a webinar on creating exceptional career and technical education (CTE) programs that prepare students for high-demand careers. Presenters will share real-world examples from three Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) studies that used participant data to inform CTE program improvements that align with the needs of the 21st century workforce.

The webinar will conclude with two sequential break-out sessions that allow participants to attend in-depth question and answer sessions focused on two research studies of their choice:

  • Assessing the Alignment Between West Virginia’s High School Career and Technical Education Programs and the Labor Market, is a REL Appalachia research study completed for the West Virginia Workforce Readiness partnership. The study provides information on how West Virginia CTE programs of study align with high-demand occupations for each region in the state and beyond to inform West Virginia Department of Education programming decisions.
  • Career and Technical Education in Oregon: Exploring Who Participates and the Outcomes They Achieve, is a REL Northwest CTE landscape study completed for the Oregon Graduation and Postsecondary Success Alliance. The report provides information about Oregon secondary CTE program offerings, student participation, and student outcomes over 11 years.
  • Examining High School Career and Technical Education Programs and the Postsecondary Outcomes of Career and Technical Education Students in the Round Rock Independent School District, is a REL Southwest study that assessed the alignment of high school CTE programs of study in Round Rock Independent School District (RRISD) and other Central Texas districts with high-wage, in-demand career pathways in the region.
