This workshop will help participants identify several factors that can contribute to therapists and patients feeling stuck in treatment.  Participants will learn how to generate behaviorally specific targets to help clients effect change.  DBT informed interventions will be explored through didactic and experiential means.

Who Should Attend: 

Social Workers, Mental Health Counselors, Creative Arts Therapists, Marriage and Family Therapists, and any professional that is working in the mental health field. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will gain a better understanding of the role that acceptance and change play in the therapeutic relationship
  • Participants will be able to reframe treatment goals into behaviorally specific terms
  • Participants will learn DBT informed change and acceptance strategies
  • Participants will identify ways to implement DBT informed strategies into current clinical practice

About the Presenter

 

Linda McLehose, LCSW-R earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from SUNY Stony Brook, and is a DBT-Linehan Board of Certification, Certified Clinician™. 

With over 20 years experience in the mental health field, Linda specializes in the treatment of trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, and substance abuse.  Linda is Intensively Trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy from Behavioral Tech, Inc, and has been a member of a DBT consultation team since 2015.  In 2016 she was involved in developing the DBT program at Long Island Behavioral Medicine which serves adults and adolescents.   A recognized provider by the World Trade Center Health Program, Linda also specializes in treating first responders. 

Linda has served as the Director of Clinical Services at The Association of Mental Health and Wellness, providing program development, oversight, and clinical supervision to therapists and program directors within the agency’s PROS mental health clinics.
