Kelly Cunningham presents findings of the Indiana Maternal Mortality Review Committee (MMRC) 2018 Report on Pregnancy-Associated Deaths

The next PIC webinar, February 18, at 11:30 AM, will focus on causes, opportunities, and solutions to improve Indiana women's health. Kelly Cunningham, Maternal Mortality Review Coordinator for the Indiana Department of Health, will describe the process and findings of the 2018 report and offer concrete recommendations about preventing future adverse outcomes

The MMRC includes representation from a broad range of physicians and nurses from multiple specialties (Obstetrics & Gynecology, Cardiology, Pulmonary Medicine, Anesthesiology, Pathology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Public Health) along with social workers, coroners, health advocates, and other allied health professionals. These volunteers extensively review pregnancy-associated deaths to identify opportunities for prevention. The goal of the review is identifying systems-level changes to improve the health of Indiana women. Joining Ms. Cunningham are two local MMRC members,

Kathleen Detweiler (Parkview Health) and Captain Kevin Hunter (Fort Wayne Police Department).

The free webinar will also feature Nicole Fairchild, Executive Director, McMillen Health, announcing an Opioid Use Disorder App development for women. The app is for pregnant women, new mothers, community health workers, home visitors, and other groups working with at-risk parents.
