Addressing Racial Equity in Recovery: Examining Critical Actionable Steps

Friday, Jan. 29, 2021

11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Virtual event

Join Interact for Health for a webinar to learn more about addressing racial equity in recovery. This webinar will include information about:

  • Critical gaps in racial equity in recovery spaces.
  • Layers of racism and how they affect individuals.
  • Actionable steps that treatment providers, community partners, grantees and recovery stakeholders can take to reduce racial harm and pivot toward equity.

This event is intended for all people working in or interested in the field of recovery in Interact for Health’s 20-county service area and beyond.

Presenter: Ashley E. Stewart, Ph.D., MSSW

Stewart is a professor, racial equity and inclusion scholar, and researcher at the Temple University School of Social Work in Philadelphia. Her primary focus is supporting organizations and institutions in reducing harm caused by racism and identity-based oppression. She provides a thorough assessment and tangible recommendations that move beyond segmented diversity efforts toward intervening for sustainable culture-shift and inclusion practices. She has provided training and curriculum development for national organizations, large corporations, mental health professionals, public health and policy leaders, and colleges and departments within universities. She creates a colorful balance between empathy and urgency in addressing sensitive and critical matters across all of her work

Registration closes 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021.

About Interact for Health

Interact for Health is improving the health of all people in our region. We serve as a catalyst by promoting health equity through grants, education, research, policy and engagement. To amplify the impact of our work, Interact for Health focuses on three strategic priorities: reducing tobacco use, addressing the opioid epidemic and ensuring that children have access to health care through school-based health centers. We are an independent foundation that serves 20 counties in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. More information is available on our website, interactforhealth.org.
