Chrysalis Center's
Virtual Empty Bowls 2021
Wednesday, March 24, 2021
Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to raise both money and awareness in the fight to end hunger. At Chrysalis Center one of our priorities is eliminating food insecurity in our communities by providing access to fresh and nutritious foods.
This year’s Empty Bowls event is a little different, as it will be a VIRTUAL event, with proceeds benefitting Chrysalis Center’s “food hub”- programs which address the critical issue of food insecurity and lack of fresh and nutritious foods in the community through innovative and hands-on approaches - including our Freshplace innovative food pantry, Urban Roots hydroponics grow center, Homestead Farmers’ Market, Railway Gardens, and our Food Forest.

Tickets to Empty Bowls are $20 per person ($10 for children under 12) and include a delicious bowl of soup, fresh-baked sourdough roll and brownie, all provided by La Cocina Catering, Chrysalis Center’s social enterprise program which trains individuals in the culinary arts field to help them secure a job and become economically independent. (Soup re-heating instructions will be included.)
Guests will receive a private link to our Empty Bowls virtual event, which features inspiring client stories, and our food initiatives. Guests will also receive a handcrafted bowl, created by a local artist, as a reminder of how many people have empty soup bowls.
Soup and bowls can be picked up Wednesday, March 24 between noon and 6pm, at Chrysalis Center’s outdoor patio, located at 255 Homestead Avenue in Hartford, CT. To ensure everyone's safety, we will have pre-scheduled pick-up times, social distancing, and require masks at pick up.
