3/18/21 - The Essentials of Sleep

Dr. Rubin Naiman

Important Notes & Announcements:

Course Description:

This program will provide a foundational overview of an integrative approach to sleep health. We will focus on concepts essential to a psychological approach to understanding and treating insomnia at its core. These approaches include a body-mind spirit view of sleep loss and interventions. The limitations of rigid 'paint-by-number' approaches will also be discussed, and the importance of respecting sleep phenomenology will be emphasized.

The March 18th program is part one in a two-part series which will conclude on March 25th with The Essentials of Dream Health. Completion of part one is strongly recommended prior to attending part two but is not a pre-requisite.

Learning Objectives:

1. Define sleep in terms of both physiological and phenomenological features.
2. Discuss the impact of chronic sleep loss on mental and physical health.
3. Describe the basic components of an integrative treatment approach to sleep loss.
