Join the American Society of Civil Engineers - Wisconsin Section (ASCE WI) and the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin (LWV-WI) for a virtual presentation on the current state of Wisconsin's infrastructure.

Carl Sutter, P.E. 

ASCE Society Director and Senior Vice President Environment & Infrastructure Division, McMahon

Carl Sutter is Senior Vice President of the Environment & Infrastructure Division of McMahon Associates in Neenah, Wisconsin.  He is a Professional Engineer and Certified Construction Specifier with a B.S. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  He has over forty years of experience in engineering, most of it in the public realm of environmental and infrastructure engineering.  As part of his career work, he assisted in creation of the first multi-jurisdictional storm water utility in Wisconsin.

His American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) service started in 1984 and he has been active with the Fox River Valley Branch, the Wisconsin Section, and the Society.  His service in the Fox River Branch consisted of holding the Board level positions of Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President, and President.  At the Wisconsin Section level, he held the Board level positions of Branch Director, Director at Large, Treasurer, Vice President, President-Elect, and President.  At the Society level, he has served as a Region Governor and is currently Region Director for the upper Midwest and four provinces of Canada.

Carl assisted with the creation of the previous Report Cards for Wisconsin’s Infrastructure in 2003 and 2007 along with his work on the 2020 Report Card.  He has also been a spokesperson contact for the 2009, 2013, and 2017 Report Cards on America’s Infrastructure.


 

William Holahan, PhD, 

Emeritus Professor of Economics, University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee

Dr. Holahan, Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, earned his B.S. in Physics from Notre Dame and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from Brown.  He was on the faculty of Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for forty years, nine and one-half as its chair.   Professor Holahan taught Principles of Economics to over forty thousand students in a 500 seat lecture hall and in online video lectures. In addition, he conducted writing-intensive and math-intensive courses for economics and business students, and taught in the University’s Honors College, Global Studies Program, and the Executive MBA Program for the College of Business. His seminars in the Honors Program include the innovative “Economic Issues in the Presidential Election,” and “Persuasive Writing for Policy Influence.” His achievements in the classroom  have been recognized in  two university-wide awards for teaching excellence and another two from the UWM Lubar School of Business for his teaching in the school’s MBA program in Beijing. In addition, the UWM Foundation established The Holahan Prize, an award in his honor that is given annually for teaching excellence  in the UWM Economics Department.   His research papers have appeared in numerous journals, including the American Economic Review, the Journal of Economic Theory, the International Economic Review, the Southern Economic Journal, and The Journal of Regional Science.   He brings policy economics to the public through television and radio commentary, invited speeches, and numerous guest editorials in major newspapers, most notably the  New York Times, USA Today, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and the Tampa Bay Times.  Website: http://uwm.edu/economics/people/holahan-william-l/
