Introduction to Digital Preservation - Webinar (04/08/21)

“Introduction to Digital Preservation” is a two-hour workshop that will help participants get started in the development of a digital preservation program, The workshop covers key principles for the creation, maintenance, and preservation of digital collections, storage, options for digital materials and metadata schemas for long-term access. Other topics that will be touched on include: digitization prioritization, best practices and cataloging norms. There will be time for questions and discussion of issues that are unique to the organization.

Virtual Trainer: Leigh Grinstead, LYRASIS

Leigh A. Grinstead has more than 20 years of experience working in museums, overseeing collections and conducting collection inventories. She has extensive experience in digital projects. Her years working with museum collections gave her the drive to be a hands-on advocate for digitization, and her project management experience has allowed her to add discipline to the planning, budgeting, implementation and analysis stages of digitization projects. In addition, Leigh has been responsible for training many library, performing arts and cultural organizations in the use of digital technologies, planning, best practices, metadata creation and digital preservation strategies.

She received her Digital Archives Specialist Program certificate from the Society of American Archivists in 2015.
