2021 Spring Cub Scout Shoot-O-Ree

This will be the ONLY Council Event where the Cub Scouts can earn the award(s) before the June 1 rank up date. The Shoot-O-Ree is a special event for Cub Scouts (1st thru 5th grade) to earn their Shooting Sports Awards (both patch and pins). We will offer BB, Archery and Sling Shot programs. EACH Scout MUST have a parent or guardian present with them during the event, NO DROP OFFS.

No snacks or meals will be provided, however the camp trading post will be open with snacks and drinks.  Please make arrangements to keep your kids energized. Ranges will close from approximately 12:00-1:00 for lunch break.  All participants will need a water container.  Water will be provided, but no personal containers will be available.  No personal shooting equipment is allowed.  Though not required, we would encourage the Scouts to wear their “class A” uniform shirt and Neckerchief.

IMPORTANT:

WHEN REGISTERING, PLEASE CLICK "ADD" (AFTER THE PARENT REGISTRATION) AND FILL IN THE INFO FOR EACH SCOUT YOU ARE REGISTERING.  THIS INCLUDES THEIR, NAME, RANK AND PACK NUMBER.

The fee for Shoot-o-Ree is $20 per scout/parent pair. (The fee will increase to $25 per scout/parent pair on April 14, 2021). This fee includes all program materials and one event patch, award patch, and pins.

Overnight camping is available for both Friday and Saturday nights but no program or food service will be available.

As stated above, a parent or guardian must accompany their child during the Shoot-O-Ree.  If a safety violation due to horseplay is made, the scout may be asked to leave the premises, without refund or sign off of the award.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS YEAR:

If you have attended our Shoot-O-Ree at Camp Stapley, please expect things to be different this year.

Check-In will begin at 8:30AM in front of the Admin office.

The event will start at 9:00AM at the picnic tables in front of the Dining Hall.

We will hold the safety briefing and "book work" with all participants at this time.  The safety briefing is also where all of our shooters will receive their wrist bands (required).  Those without wrist bands will not be allowed to shoot. The safety briefing program will cover BB, Archery and Wrist Rocket.  This will likely take one (1) hour to complete.  We will do our best to make this time fun and informative.  At the briefing the shooters will be given a score sheet - this will need to accompany the Scout throughout the course. It would be advisable for the parent to keep up with the score sheet.  When we break from the safety briefing, we will open the ranges.  There will be multiple ranges for each discipline.  Each discipline has a level one and level two component for a total of six (for all the disciplines).  When a level is completed, the score sheet will be "stamped" by the Rangemaster and the shooter can move to the next level or discipline. When the shooter receives all 6 stamps and their scores are recorded you are free to check out of the event.  The score sheet will then be turned into the checkout station and the shooter will receive their award insignia and devices.   This years setup is new to us, as well as all of you. With the advent of Covid, we are forced to change from the norm, please be gracious with the staff as we forge ahead and do our best to make this a spectacular event !

Each person will need to bring with them: a water container, Health Form Part A&B, Event Permission Form, Photo Release Form, and a Shooting Sports Permission Form.
