Trauma Informed 101: What is Trauma? What is Trauma Informed?

This 2 hour online training addresses the foundations of becoming trauma informed, the prevalence of trauma, and how trauma is defined. 

 Outcomes for this training include:

  • Participants will be able to provide a definition of trauma that includes systemic oppression, historical and collective trauma, and toxic stress.
  • Participants will understand the prevalence of trauma and adversity nationally, locally, and within specific populations.
  • Participants will understand the term "trauma informed" and the difference between trauma specific and trauma sensitive.

About the Trainer

Danielle Vander Linden is a Trauma Informed Specialist in Salem, Oregon. With ten years of experience working with at-risk children and youth in Oregon's foster care system, as well as adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Danielle was trained as a trainer in the Sanctuary Model, an organizational approach of trauma informed practices. This model uses a trauma informed approach to assist organizations in building a trauma informed workforce, which facilitates stronger collaboration among co-workers and sets a foundation for better outcomes for children, youth, and families working with these staff members. She holds a Master's degree in Special Education and is a Qualified Mental Health Professional. In addition to her formal education, she is trained in Collaborative Problem Solving, Restorative Justice, and Continuous Quality Improvement. She also teachers at Western Oregon University.
