The Embrace of a Fierce Mother

A 3 Part Webinar Series with Dr Julie Brown Yau

"Dr. Julie's course on the Embrace of the Fierce Mother empowered me to claim this particular Goddess energy for my own healing and transformation.  I have more capacity to be with my various trauma reactions and a growing trust in my process.  Dr. Julie has the rare gift of offering herself as someone with a deeply embodied spiritual presence combined with a rich understanding of developmental trauma and somatic healing techniques.

I highly recommend this course."

PC, California (participant in previous course)

Join Dr Julie as she unites two powerful and transformative paths that can support you in resolving the pain of developmental trauma, while deepening your potential of awakening. Drawing from her knowledge of Depth Psychology and Trauma, and the Tantric tradition of Sri Vidya, Dr Julie will guide you through a deep practice that supports developmental wounds, while nurturing the Divine within. The course is not for the faint of heart, if you have not had any support in early trauma, the course may not be for you, however, the Mother we work with offers a powerful field of holding, she is merciful, compassionate, and yes, fierce.

The Embrace of a Fierce Mother is a unique course unifying healing trauma with spiritual practice. These are challenging times; extraordinary means of healing and practice are called for. Our practice will connect you to a fierce form of the Divine feminine. As I mentioned, she is not for the faint-of-heart, yet her merciful compassion will hold you through your challenging traumas and tumultuous emotions. You do not need to be a part of any tradition to join, nor do you need to be currently working with healing trauma. The practices are powerful in their own right. The Divine feminine energy, or Shakti, we will connect with, will hold you in a way that allows you to go much deeper within, and to know yourself in quite a different way. This recognition and knowing is an entry to gnosis.

At the root of most trauma is the sense of separation and aloneness, of being unmet in ways that felt threatening, resulting in us giving up our unity to save ourselves. Our course looks at returning to a sense of wholeness and the love that we are. The human body is where trauma is stored; in Sri Vidya, the body is the temple of spiritual unfoldment. We will address both. Through our practice we will attune to the energies of the body, including emotions, we can re-calibrate our energies and subtle anatomy, attuning to the to the more fluid and natural cycles of healing, breaking open our hearts to know ourselves as love. The practice we learn will naturally support this unfoldment.

In our course we will have the opportunity to embrace the mystery of being, be in wonder, and marvel with curiosity at the multidimensionality of life.

In the classes and in your own practice, you will learn how to work with your innate intelligence, always at work, moving us toward healing and awakening the heart/mind. There are stunning and poignant elements within the human struggle as it leads us to freedom; if you are willing to explore and take on our practice so much more is revealed than one may expect. We will create a container for safety, holding and community.

Please be prepared to commit to spending time in your practice in between classes, and to meet some challenging emotions as they begin to resolve. Healing trauma isn’t about feeling better initially, but feeling more to liberate the emotions; we then reconvene with questions and experiences and an added practice for you to take with you each week.

Each class will be a combination of teaching, experiential, and Q & A.

Although attendance at all 3 sessions is highly recommended, recordings will be made available within 24 hours of each session for 7 days.

Spiritual practice and looking at trauma often triggers underlying issues.

SUNDAY 30 MAY 10am - 12 noon Pacific Time

Week 1. Meeting the Goddess (2 hours)

An introduction to the Tantric tradition of Sri Vidya, the Divine Feminine, and the sacred technologies we will be with. Mantra (the science of vibration), visualization, yantra, and nyasa. We will explore the relationship of early trauma and the specific practices you will be learning, and how they complement each other to deepen both healing and spiritual maturity or awakening. We will explore how to work with challenging and volatile energies and emotions that often get split off from our awareness in childhood, or simply feel too much in adulthood. You will begin your sadhana (spiritual practice) by connecting to a power field of consciousness, or Goddess, which you will be in practice with through the course.

SUNDAY 6 JUNE 10am - 11.30 am Pacific Time

Week 2. Deepening your Relationship to Her. Rebirth and Renewal (1.5 hours)

This week we unlock the key to go deeper into the practice. For the trauma aspect we will look at the importance of compassion for softening the mechanisms that protect us, which are no longer necessary. We will also look at how trauma colors a person’s perceptions—of themselves, of others and the world. Whatever ways you have developed to cope in response to traumatic experiences, these habitual ways of responding can be transformed.

SUNDAY 13 JUNE 10am - 11.30 am Pacific Time

Week 3. Recognizing and Integrating States and Experiences (1.5 hours)

This week, as we deepen our relationship to Her, you will also learn an eloquent way of release, surrender and detachment. Difficult experiences can be divided into manageable degrees to be worked with. This week will also focus on answering questions from your sadhana over the previous 3 weeks. We will look at how to refine states and experiences, and how to continue your practice, or prepare for the next course. This week we also enter into a very special ritual/practice, exploring rebirth and resurrection, to bring us into the loving embrace of the fierce Mother.
