PLT-WILD Bottomland Forests and Aquatic Ecosystems Workshop

Approved for 6 hours of ADE PD and Arkansas PDR credit.

This workshop will feature two internationally recognized curricula - Project WILD and Project Learning Tree.

Project WILD is an education curriculum rooted in nature that helps educators bring the outdoors to their students. Curriculum matching state and national teaching standards offer valuable education and lesson plans about the natural world. Two curriculum guides serve to help educators teach conservation: Project WILD is the terrestrial guide and Aquatic WILD is the aqua guide. Aquatic WILD encompasses lessons in Ecological Knowledge, Social and Political Knowledge, and Sustaining Fish and Wildlife.

Participants will also receive training in PLT’s NEW Explore Your Environment: K-8 Curriculum, which offers educators a wide variety of engaging, hands-on activities, organized into grade bands: K-2, 3-5, and 6-8. Many activities also suggest variations for doing the activity with a different grade level or audience. Topics include trees and forests, wildlife, water, air, energy, waste, climate change, invasive species, community planning, and more. Activities correlated to state and national education frameworks.

Lunch will be provided.

Participants must stay for the full training in order to receive the curriculum guides and the six hours of ADE-approved PD.  No partial credit will be given. Space is limited.
