Roof System Thermal and Moisture Course is an 8-hour course which will be delivered over 2 days, four hours each day. It is for consultants or industry members who want to develop more in-depth thermal and moisture design skills will want to take this course. The content moves quickly beyond basic thermal terminology and calculations to cooling-load calculations, annual energy consumptions and payback calculations, cool roofing, and temperature calculations within cross sections. Moisture starts with the psychrometric chart and moist-air properties. Additional topics include vapor retarders, the effects of moisture on insulation, air barriers, and mold issues.

Michael Hensen, IRC Building Sciences Group Inc, RRC, P. Eng.

Michael Hensen is a professional engineer, Registered Roof Consultant (IIBEC), and District Manager of our London and Cambridge, Ontario, offices. He has more than 30 years of experience providing building and engineering services for the commercial, municipal, multi-residential, educational, and health care sectors. His extensive background includes experience with new construction building envelope design, engineering design of single and multi-component remediation/ rehabilitation/ renovation projects, and project management and contract administration related to single and multidiscipline projects of all types. Mr. Hensen also has experience with forensic investigation and failure determination of building envelope and construction deficiencies, as well as building envelope-related technical support for construction litigation and insurance claims. He has served as a course instructor for roof-related continuing education courses and has participated in more than 15 years of IIBEC/RCI conference education sessions and roofing symposiums. Mr. Hensen holds a B.Eng. degree in civil engineering from Concordia University Montreal.

Burt Carver, RRC, RRO

Mr. Carver is the Owner of Apex Building Sciences Inc. founded in 2008. He has been involved in the building enclosure sector since 1998. In that time he worked in a variety of sectors including restoration, new construction, and asset management. As one of his roles his focus has been the assessment and remediation of building enclosures.  At IIBEC he has been involved with the RRO Exam Committee, the RRC Exam Committee, the Chapter Development Committee and also the Advocacy Committee. He is currently the Western Canada Regional Director and is a Past President of the Western Canadian Chapter of IIBEC.

Refunds will be issued up to two weeks prior to the event.  After that time, no refunds will be permitted.

“No Shows” will not receive a refund.  Substitutions are permitted.
