Trauma Training for Early Childhood Educators

 

About the series

This series by LUK, Inc. Trauma Services gives early childhood educators a foundation in trauma-informed care, inclusivity, and curriculum development. The series is funded by the MWCC Early Childhood Program and the Heywood Hospital "Handle With Care" grant funded by the State Attorney General's Office.

Session 3, Wednesday, June 2, 6:00–8:00 PM
The Power of Play & Co-Regulation: Trauma-Informed and Relational Connections is an applied workshop for early childhood educators. In this two-hour training, participants will acquire an in-depth review of attachment, self-regulation, co-regulation, and emerging research regarding the interplay between these constructs as it relates to behavior in the classroom. Participants will learn how to assess self-regulation and develop concrete ways in which they can enhance the development of self-regulation through attachment and co-regulation. Playful learning techniques and classroom-based interventions will provide participants essential, “in the pocket” strategies.


About the trainers

Molly Desloge, LICSW
Molly Desloge is the Program Manager of Trauma Training and Coordination and brings a strong background in childhood mental health and trauma services, including Early Childhood Mental Health (ECMH), community-based treatment, foster and residential care, and preschool/school collaboration. She also provides individual and group clinical supervision. Prior to receiving her MSW, Molly held a licensure in Elementary Education.

Through her clinical work, Molly has become aware of the nuances and intricacies involved in ensuring accessible, sustainable, and effective trauma-informed mental health care for children and families who’ve experienced stressors and adverse events. To that extent, Molly is passionate about providing training and education for providers, educators, parents, and systems in trauma-informed approaches and evidenced-based treatments, particularly within the ECMH population. Molly is trained in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Attachment, Regulation, and Competency (ARC) framework and ARC Grow. Molly incorporates a strength-based, relational and social justice, anti-racist, and equity lens to her role and engagement with communities, other professionals, students, and clients.

Jacquelyn M. Reinert, Psy.D., LMHC
Jacquelyn M. Reinert is the Assistant Director for Trauma Services at LUK, Inc. For the past fourteen years, Dr. Reinert has provided comprehensive and individualized services to children, adolescents, and transitional-aged young adults in a variety of capacities, including therapeutic schools, residential programs, hospitals, and outpatient settings. She has worked at LUK since 2018, overseeing psychological evaluation and trauma assessment training with doctoral interns. In her current role, Dr. Reinert is the Project Director of the Central Massachusetts Child Trauma Center (CMCTC), a National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) Category III trauma site, as well as managing the operational and fiscal oversight of Trauma Services.

Outside of her clinical and administrative roles at LUK, Dr. Reinert is a strong and passionate advocate for public service and as such, serves on a diverse range of professional and local organizations. Dr. Reinert also highly values continuing education and the active support of students in the field of psychology and mental health. In 2019, Dr. Reinert received the Rivier University Benoit Outstanding Educator Award that recognizes Rivier graduates working in the field of education who have demonstrated a commitment to teaching excellence and fostering an exceptional educational environment. She is the 2018 recipient of the New Hampshire Psychological Association’s Member of the Year Award.
