“How WPI Navigated COVID-19:
A look back and a look ahead”

Speaker: James Eakin, PhD, Technical Operations Manager Integrated Photonics Laboratory for Education & Application Prototypes (LEAP), Worcester Polytechnic Institute

Summary: This past year has shed light on the many ways that companies and universities were affected by and responded to a global pandemic.  In this presentation WPI will share how the university navigated the COVID-19 pandemic to safely continue and expand academic and research activities including new methods of on-boarding students to begin the 2020-2021 academic year, developing and implementing testing infrastructure and contact tracing protocols, working with faculty to create and deploy curriculum across a hybrid learning environment, as well as bringing the Laboratory for Education and Application Prototypes (LEAP) facility online.  This presentation will be a reflection of the past year and, in addition, an opportunity to listen to others share their experiences and insights.
