Speaker

Avery Brohman

Avery Brohman joined the Victoria Hospitals Foundation (VHF) in May of 2018 as the Director, Development & Communications, and transitioned into Acting Executive Director shortly after her arrival. In February of 2020, Avery was appointed as permanent Executive Director, responsible for attracting transformational giving to advance the Foundation’s mission. She leads the strategic vision and planning, fundraising, board engagement, and partnerships with the executive leadership of Island Health.

Her professional background spans 15 years of non-profit management in fundraising, development, and community engagement at some of the most well respected national non-profit organizations including Ovarian Cancer Canada, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Avery has spent most of her career in Toronto. Prior to joining VHF, Avery led corporate sales, strategy and social responsibility for Shaw Communications in Canada’s northern territories.

Avery is a graduate from Ryerson University and Conestoga College and was named “Top 40 Under 40” in 2013. She is a mentor with the Association of Fundraising Professionals and has obtained her Certified Fundraising Executive accreditation and was recently nominated for a 2021 Women of Influence Award.

Avery cares deeply about inspiring giving and loves the work she does with the team she has the pleasure to spend her working days with. She has a track-record of transforming organizations through impactful philanthropy and looks forward to building on this success and continuing to advance the Foundation’s mission here on Vancouver Island and enhance care in our local hospitals. When not in the office, you can find Avery hiking the lush trails on the Island with her husband Eric and beloved border collie Grace or enjoying a local farmers market.
