Boots on the Ground: Employment Consultant Community of Practice Seminar

In collaboration with the Washington State Developmental Disabilities Administration, Wise is pleased to announce the Boots on the Ground: Employment Consultant Community of Practice! Comprised of two sessions per week, this Community of Practice will offer hands on examples and opportunities to see innovative direct service from employment providers across the State of Washington. Tuesday seminars will occur each week from 9:30 to 11:30am PST, and Friday workshops will provide follow up conversation and activities based on the Tuesday content from 9:30 to 10:30am PST. These events are open to all and free of charge.

*Attending the Tuesday seminar is not required in order to participate in Friday's workshop, although you are encouraged to do so. Recordings of Tuesday's events will be made available the following Wednesday to those who could not attend. Register for the Friday workshop that corresponds with this event by visiting to the Wise Calendar (scheduled for Friday of that same week).

Please join us on Tuesday, May 11 for our seminar, "Creative Collaboration" with Work Opportunities.

In our current times, we are being called to get more creative both in the ways we provide services and even how we get work done internally. We cannot fulfill our duties without each other! Let us discuss innovative ways to provide supports and accomplish goals by organizing with support networks, community resource networking, integrating new and old communication systems for clients to connect with their teams, and also ways that you can team up in your own organization to boost both your own and your caseload success.

  • Talking points for collaborating with community and support partners
  • Next steps for boosting your team continuity

Attendees that participate in our events and/or complete training programs will receive a certificate to document participation as back up for billing purposes.

Meet the Panel:

 

                                                                Alicia McCoy

Alicia McCoy has been providing employment and community inclusion services for over 10 years with Work Opportunities of Whatcom County, where she is a newly Team Lead. She is also a neurodivergent mixed media artist and musician who lives in Bellingham, WA with her pet mantises. Alicia openly shares her dual perspective as not just an innovative employment professional, but as someone with her own creative accommodations and systems for navigating the community and workforce. She most enjoys helping others build greater self-awareness, self-advocacy, and independence. Alicia is a self-study, who, through her own healing journey, continually brings new ideas and best practices to her team and the field that she has found most effective. Through facing and overcoming obstacles in her own life, Alicia sources insight that allows her to build strong, empathetic, and trusting relationships in her work. Some of her other professional interests include: designing low tech accommodations, goal setting, community accessibility, legislative advocacy, and art therapy.
