Understanding the Job Mix Formula

CREATING A SUCCESSFUL JOB MIX FORMULA  DEMYSTIFIED

You asked and we listened. You want a simple yet affordable training opportunity for pavement engineers, technicians and others who need to know about one of the most important elements of a successful asphalt paving project: the Job Mix Formula.  Any successful asphalt pavement project begins with the Job Mix Formula, a detailed recipe for making Hot Mix Asphalt to exacting standards to meet project specifications and the pavement design expectations of the project owner. With that in mind, CalAPA is pleased to offer a 2.5 hour seminar on the most important information you need to know about a Job Mix Formula. This class will be led by veteran materials expert Greg Reader, with G3 Quality, who has worked closely with Caltrans and local agencies for many years on various aspects of creating a successful Job Mix Formula. This course provides an overview of the mix design procedure, testing protocol, material components, and the typical reporting requirements used to develop a JMF. The course will also include typical challenges and troubleshooting strategies designers often encounter during the JMF development. Fasten your seat belts! We’ll pack a lot of information into 90 minutes, and there will be some valuable handouts to take away for future reference. There also will be live polls and ample time for questions from class attendees.   What you don't know can cost you!

Reader (pictured below left) is a noted expert in the asphalt pavement industry, having worked in the industry for many years and has delivered informative presentations at CalAPA conferences.

Key take-aways for this class include an overview of JMF concepts and best practices, key terminology and test methods, logistical challenges and ways to overcome them, troubleshooting problems with a JMF and how to avoid costly delays. There will be ample time for attendees to pose questions.

NOTE: This class will be delivered in remote "LIVE STREAM WEBINAR" format only. There will be no in-person class location.  Participants will be able to ask questions and have them answered during the webinar. A link to participate in the class remotely via computer will be sent separately to all registrants. All attendees will also receive via e-mail an electronic certificate of completion documenting that they have completed one (1) Professional Development Hours (PDH) of technical instruction. All participants will also receive an electronic copy of a handy refence book, which includes copies of all slides, a list of acronyms, glossary of terms and more.

Who should attend? This class is ideal for engineers working in the public and private sectors who must participate in the design of HMA pavements, including materials engineers, HMA production personnel, testing technicians, specification writers, Quality Control managers, Owner/Agency personnel and paving inspectors, plus others who care about delivering a quality paving job.

On-line registration is required and must be completed by clicking on the "Register Now" button below. A link to participate in this webinar will be sent in a follow-up note.
