Principles & Best Practices for Asphalt Plant Production -- June 8 & 9

You're probably losing money at your asphalt plant every day, but where? CalAPA's "Principles & Best Practices for Asphalt Plant Production" provides an in-depth look at proven best practices to optimize asphalt plant operations, identify issues early and make critical adjustments. Key take-aways include best practices for cold feed blending, aspahlt sotrage and asphalt metering, aggregate drying, dust collection and fines return, recycle mix production, drum-mix blending, batch plant blending, and finished product storage and load-out. Taught by nationally known expert Terry "T.J" Young (pictured at right), this class is one of our most highly rated.

The class will cover the following areas:

•    Stockpile Management – Building and managing stockpiles to minimize contamination & segregation.
•    Cold Feed Calibration & Operation – How the cold feed calibration process works and best practices of operation to insure consistent and reliable flow of the individual feed materials.
•    Belt Scale Calibration & Operation – How belt scales work, how they are calibrated, and how they should be managed for consistent day-to-day accuracy.
•    AC meter Calibration & Operation – How AC meters work, how they are calibrated, and how they should be managed for consistent day-to-day accuracy.
•    Drying and Dryer Operations – How drying effectiveness contributes to quality management in mix production and how they should be managed.
•    Baghouse Operations & Dust Return – How primary and dust collectors operate and how they should be managed for consistent dust return.
•    Silo Management & Truck Loading – How silos should be managed and how this and proper truck loading contributes to mix quality.

This class is ideal for HMA production personnel, materials engineers, testing technicians, specification writers, QC Managers, paving inspectors, production, owner/agency personnel and top management.
