Boots on the Ground: Employment Consultant Community of Practice Seminar
In collaboration with the Washington State Developmental Disabilities Administration, Wise is pleased to announce the Boots on the Ground: Employment Consultant Community of Practice! Comprised of two sessions per week, this Community of Practice will offer hands on examples and opportunities to see innovative direct service from employment providers across the State of Washington. Tuesday seminars will occur each week from 9:30 to 11:30am PST, and Friday workshops will provide follow up conversation and activities based on the Tuesday content from 9:30 to 10:30am PST. These events are open to all and free of charge.
*Attending the Tuesday seminar is not required in order to participate in Friday's workshop, although you are encouraged to do so. Recordings of Tuesday's events will be made available the following Wednesday to those who could not attend. Register for the Friday workshop that corresponds with this event by visiting to the Wise Calendar (scheduled for Friday of that same week).
Unique Job Development Models- COVID can’t stop us!
Please join us on Tuesday, June 29 for our seminar, "Unique Job Development Models- COVID can’t stop us!" with Morningside.
Covid has encouraged Morningside job developers to become even more creative. Come hear about some unique models with which we have had success during Covid:
- Partnering with Parents for job development outcomes- come hear how we are working with parents to develop employment opportunities in their communities!
- Virtual Rotary Partners for Work- the Partners for Work is a well-established program that leads to jobs for students and others with IDD. Come learn about this model and Morningside’s work to make this sustainable during Covid.
- Self Advocates developing jobs- in the “non disabled’ world people help their friends get jobs all the time- sometimes even earning a bonus for doing so! Why not people with disabilities?
- You will be prepared to include high energy and engaged parents in the job development process.
- You will learn how to use the Partners for Work program virtually in your community.
- You will practice how to assist your SE clients to have the “hire a person with a disability” conversation with their employer!

*Please note: Wise maintains registration and attendance records for our events and training programs. Wise is required to monitor participation in our courses and provide reports to our funding sources so that they may utilize these records in the course of their audits of programs. These reports may include actual time spent by attendee name, event/training title, county and state. Reports are provided to ensure there is documented proof of the appropriate use of government funds for the purposes of professional development. Attendees that participate in our events and/or complete training programs will receive a certificate to document participation as back up for billing purposes.

Vicky Tetzlaff is a job developer who started with Morningside in October 2020- the very height of the Pandemic. Vicky brings rich experience as a community developer, a fund raiser, and as an HR representative to her role as an advocate within the business community for people with IDD. Vicky is historically highly engaged in her local Rotary and a strong advocate for family members who experience disabilities. We are excited to share her fresh perspectives with you!

Sky Chafee has worked with individuals with developmental disabilities since 2015 and has served with Morningside for just over five years. He has recently moved into a supervisor role and is now supporting DVR and transition programs in Pierce County. His goal is to see all people have access to employment opportunities and the independence that work creates.

I am an avid outdoors person and I love to crochet, backpack, and I am most recently obsessed with alpine lake fishing.
