              Teaching Economics and Personal Finance Using Children's Literature                    Interactive Lesson Demos -- Free Lesson Plans

This workshop for elementary teachers will utilize popular children's books to teach standards such as trade/barter, opportunity cost, entrepreneurship, saving, history, segregation, character education, income, goods and services, risk and reward, and human resources.

Light breakfast and lunch will be provided. A $100 stipend will be provided to teachers who attend the full day. Since there is no free parking at the UNCC Campus, the parking fee for the day will also be reimbursed for teachers who attend the full day. Attending teachers will also receive a certificate for 7 hours of profesional development and access to lesson plans and digital resourced.


  • Certificates for 7 hours of high-quality professional development will be provided.
  • Activities are aligned to NC Essential Standards in economics and personal finance.
  • Activites are interactive and hands-on.
  • Arrive early (8:00) for registration and breakfast.
  • Lunch will be provided at no cost.
  • Access to web-based resources with thousands of lesson plans and interactive resources will be provided.
