About the presenter

Jenn Protas is shareholder and helps employers navigate California’s numerous employment laws and defends employers with an eye toward successful, yet cost-effective resolution. Jenn is a zealous advocate for her clients and a tenacious litigator. She defends employers on matters related to wage and hour law, wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, and retaliation in single-plaintiff litigation, Private Attorney General Act actions, and/or class actions. Her practice also includes housing discrimination matters, and business litigation at the law firm Hoge Fenton, San Jose office.

 What to expect

Employees typically spend more time at work than in their personal lives and they rely on their jobs to provide for themselves and their families. As such, it is important that employees feel like they are treated with dignity and respect in their job, which is also good for business; it helps with productivity, and it fosters a positive company culture, which is important for attracting and retaining talent. Thus, despite bullying not being unlawful, it is important that employers and their human resources staff understand the detriments caused by an abusive work environment, what bullying looks like, how to recognize it and address it, and how to prevent it.

 Learning outcomes

  • Overview about the types of abusive behavior at the workplace.
  • Categories of abuse, power, harassment, and control.
  • Recognizing cues and red flags.
  • Navigate relationships and conflict resolution.
  • Organization's liability, prevention training, policies, and disciplinary measures.
  • And more!

Agenda

  • 10:00 a.m. Welcome and presentation begins.
