The book study is designed as a collaborative learning community for family members and professional educators to foster growth, understanding and readiness to support a marginalized community of LGBTQ+ children and youth and their families. We will..

  • Learn more about the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ children and youth who also have disabilities, increase familiarity with gender-neutral and LGBTQ+-inclusive terminology and practice applying terminology in school and community scenarios.
  • Explore developmentally appropriate, equitable responses to common and potentially sensitive school-based scenarios involving LGBTQ+ youth, families and staff.
  • Consider LGBTQ+ inclusive programming and efforts at a school and division system levels, including teaching and learning materials; athletics, clubs and extracurriculars; and inclusive curricula across content areas.
