The Itinerant Teacher's Handbook Study 

Please join us for the Fall 2021 Itinerant Teacher's Handbook  Study. A 10-week online study which is designed to provide information and guidance to itinerant teachers of students who are deaf or hard of hearing in the state of Florida. It covers itinerant roles and responsibilites as well as other topics important to the success of these highy specialized teachers. You will find the answers to essential and practical questions, along with shared tools for organization, and a network of updated resources for collaboration.

Intended Audience: Itinerant teachers of students who are D/HH, cluster site teachers who have students in inclusive settings, administrators of the D/HH Program and other related service personnel. 

Learning Objectives: Syllabus

Upon completion of the study, participants will be able to implement the following objectives:

  • identify low and high tech tools to effectively collaborate with the classroom teachers and other adults, 
  • create organization systems along with utilize training tools to progress monitor effectively and guide an IEP team to a consensus, and  
  • effectively communicate with professionals in a vartiety of settings. 

We will meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm-7:30pm EST (5:00pm-6:30pm CST)

RMTC-D/HH will provide the book for the study at no cost to the participant. Please provide your school address on the registration page (not a home address). We can only ship to a school address.

The first online meeting/chat will be a tech check, welcome and intro. After you register, you will receive an email with a zoom link to join the Tech Check on September 7, 2021. After you attend this first meeting we will mail you The Itinerant Teacher's Handbook.

If you wish to receive in-service credits towards the renewal of your Florida Educator's Certificate, it is recommended that you contact your school district's professional development office before beginning the course to verify requirements you must fulfill. RMTC-D/HH will provide a ceritficate upon completion of the course and submission of any follow-up activity requirements. You could earn up to 30 recommended in-service points for this book study depending on your participation and completion of activities. 


RMTC-D/HH is a discretionary project funded by the State of Florida, Department of Education, Bureau of Exceptional Student Education (BESE) through federal assistance under IDEA Part B and through a cooperative agreement with the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind.

Activities and resources provided by RMTC-D/HH are available to professional staff who are currently working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in the state of Florida
