This two-day course is structured for those who design vegetated green roofs or who are responsible for correcting vegetated green roof thermal or moisture protection performance problems. Vegetated green roof design is a technically demanding and evolving growth industry. This course provides guidance in the areas of design criteria, system selection, reference standards, and flashing principles and will discuss the influences of Factory Mutual, ASTM, GRHC, and NRCA publications and guidelines.

Doug Fishburn
A graduate of O.A.C., now known as the University of Guelph, Douglas Fishburn RRO, Green Roof Professional (GRP) has over fifty (50) years of roofing, building envelope, construction and design experience. His Professional Engineering Firm, Fishburn Building Sciences Group Inc., holds a dominant position in the field of roofing, waterproofing and building envelope technology. The firm consults on the design, inspection, testing and maintenance of roofing, waterproofing and building envelope systems.
Mr. Fishburn has presented technical papers to several International Building Symposiums and contributed technical articles to professional trade journals, such as Plant Engineering, the Canadian Architect and Specifications Canada. He sat on a number of Canadian General Standard Board (CGSB) committees and sits on a number of Canadian Standards Association (CSA) committees, which formalize standards for roof construction products. Mr. Fishburn has lectured at universities and also provided training seminars for trade organizations, universities and government bodies. Doug Fishburn has published over forty (40) articles regarding roof related subjects.
He is a past President of the Ontario chapter of the IIBEC (formerly known as the RCI). The IIBEC is an international non-profit association of professionals who specialize in roofing, waterproofing, and exterior wall specification and design. Mr. Fishburn has held the position of Regional Director of the IIBEC and is a past member of the education committee for IIBEC and is currently a member of the chapter development and advocacy committees. He is a Registered Roof Observer (RRO) and has his Green Roof Professional (GRP) Accreditation.
