Oregon Afterschool Conference 2021 

OregonASK’s annual conference is bigger and better than ever! We are partnering with several other western states to offer the multi-state Open Minds Open Spaces virtual conference on October 21st and 22nd. Then, on October 23rd, we’ll be offering a virtual version of our annual, Oregon-specific, Oregon Afterschool Conference.

• Friday (10/22): 10:00am - 2:30pm (PT)

Oregon Afterschool Conference

• Saturday (10/23): 9:00am - 3:00pm (sessions blocks at 9:00, 11:00, and 1:00)

Conference Topics & Overview

Open Minds Open Spaces Multi-State Conference: Join us in Elevating Afterschool during our 2nd annual Virtual Open Minds, Open Spaces collaborative fall conference on October 21st & 22nd. This year, we will have youth panels, keynotes and 1 hour workshop sessions over 2 days, from 10am-2pm. Featured speakers and discussion includes entrepreneurship, culturally responsive strategies, growth mindset, family engagement, equitable STEM practices, and more. 

Oregon Afterschool Conference: OregonASK is offering a virtual version of our annual Oregon Afterschool Conference. The conference features three 75-minute session blocks (sessions offered at 9:00, 11:00, and 1:00). Session blocks will offer 3-4 workshop options each, and include sessions on trauma informed care, social-emotional learning, leadership, and supporting mental health, among many others.

Registering for the Conference

Our single registration form signs you up for all three days! The registration cost of $99 includes all three conference days, so you can attend everything, or you can attend just the days and times that work with your schedule.

You can register up to 30 people at a time, but please be sure to include the names and emails of everyone you are registering (so we can send them information about how to join virtual sessions)

Scholarships

Limited scholarship funds are available through the Betty Gray Scholarship at the Oregon Center for Career Development (OCCD). The scholarship will cover half of the registration fee. In order to be eligible for the scholarship, you must: 

• Be at an Oregon Registry Step between 1 and 8.5
• Work directly with children at least 20 hours a week in an Oregon Office of Child Care licensed (Certified or Registered) child care facility.
• Identify specific professional or training goals which align with the scholarship program goals.

To apply for the scholarship: 

• Submit an application to OCCD no later than October 7. Be sure to select "Conferences" in section 2. 
• Applications can be submitted here
• If your application is accepted, OCCD will send you a scholarship approval letter within 6 buisness days

To use the scholarship: 

• Send your scholarship approval letter to OregonASK (katie.lakey@oregonask.org) no later than October 15.
• Upon receiving your scholarship approval letter, OregonASK will send you a registration code that can be used during registration to apply the scholarship rate.

Pre-Registering for Workshop Sessions

There is no workshop session pre-registration required for Open Minds, Open Spaces on Thursday and Friday — all sessions are open to everyone, and participants are able to select which breakout sessions to attend day-of. 

There will be workshop session pre-registration available for the Oregon Afterschool Conference. In order to ensure our workshops are interactive and responsive to the audience, we will limit the attendees for workshop sessions. Prior to the conference, pre-registration for sessions will be available to all registrants.
