Orientation

San Diego - March 2022

 

National Pastors Orientation, an event sponsored by the Board of Faith and Life of the USMB (US Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches), will be held in beautiful San Diego March 28-30, 2022.

Any MB pastors new to the pastorate or new to the denomination are expected to attend. Spouses are especially welcome. This event provides an excellent opportunity to get connected and learn about the MB family history, theology and the many resources available to you, including life insurance, retirement opportunities and more. These days spent together with leaders and other pastors in our national and district families provide encouragement and good networking opportunities. It will be a fun event and an opportunity to get away and be renewed and refreshed.

Resource persons will include Don Morris, USMB National Director, our District Ministers and other leaders from MB agencies and institutions. The event begins Monday morning at 8:00 am with breakfast and concludes Wednesday after lunch. There is no childcare provided.

Registration fee is $300 per pastor ($500 per couple) and includes 3 nights lodging (Sun/Mon/Tues), meals and all NPO events. (This fee is subsidized by USMB) Registration deadline is Friday, February 25, 2022.  We will reserve your hotel room -- please do not contact the hotel.

Also please note that the hotel has extended their special hotel rate for 3 days before and after the event so that you can enjoy some additional time in San Diego.  Just mark your desired nights on the registration. (Room rates are $135 + tax for 1-2 people. Additional nights will be billed to you separately.)

Transportation:  Transportation will be provided if needed and requested. You do not need to rent a car unless preferred for free time activities.

COVID-19 Update: We are planning to hold this event. On February 16 the State of California lifted indoor mask mandates for fully vaccinated individuals in most public establishments. Our hotel is still taking plenty of precautions with staff wearing masks, heightened cleaning protocols and other measures for the safety of staff and guests. There are currently no restrictions on social distancing that would hinder the program from going on as planned.
