Please join NJCJI for our Fall Legal Forum on Tuesday, October 12th! Due to ongoing concerns regarding COVID-19, the event will no longer be held in person at Seton Hall University Law School. Rather, we have decided to shift our fall event to a virtual format via Zoom. Under current circumstances, we believe this change will maximize participation, efficiency, and comfort for all of our panelists and participants. The change will have no effect on the content of the event or the continued availability of CLE credit for attorney-participants.

Our keynote speaker this year is the Honorable Glenn A. Grant, J.A.D, the Acting Administrative Director of the Courts. Judge Grant will be discussing the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on New Jersey’s court system and the on-going challenges facing our courts.

Also, we will be hosting two panels of distinguished practitioners in the areas of product liability and employment law. Our panel on product liability will be focusing on recent trends in that area, and includes Michelle Bufano, Esq. of Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP; Michelle Burke, Esq. of Porzio Bromberg & Newman, P.C.; and Natalie Mantell, Esq. of McCarter & English LLP. We encourage our manufacturer-members to attend and directly engage these panelists during their discussion.

Our panel on employment law will be focusing on the recent proliferation of wage and hour class actions based on worker misclassification. That panel includes Jeff Jacobson, Esq. of Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP; Jim McDonnell, Esq. of Jackson Lewis, P.C.; and Ryan Warden, Esq. of Ogletree Deakins Nash Smoak & Stewart, P.C. Notably, NJCJI is appearing in an important case on worker classification currently pending before the New Jersey Supreme Court. We hope that this panel discussion will raise awareness of this troubling trend for all of our members who engage independent contractors as part of their business model.

The deadline for registration is now extended to Sunday, October 10, 2021. Zoom link will be emailed to all registered participants on Monday, October 11th. CLE credit will still be available for attorney-participants.
