Registration Deadline: Navigating Academic Careers Course 

Post-candidacy PhD students are invited to participate in Navigating Academic Careers, a new course provided by the MDACC Office for Postdoctoral Fellows. This 26 hour virtual course is designed to provide a framework for understanding the academic career path and examining critical considerations for success. Registration ends 9/30/21.

It is a 26-hour course delivered virtually over 13 weeks, and is organized into 9 modules:
  1. Overview of Academic Positions (1.5 h)
  2. Time Management and Work-Life Balance (1.5 h)
  3. Mentorship and Sponsorship (2 h)
  4. Taking Charge of Your Career (3 h)
  5. Networking for Postdocs (2 h)
  6. Developing Your Niche (2 h)
  7. Leadership and Laboratory Management (7 h)
  8. Job Search and Interview Process (3 h)
  9. Discussions with Distinguished Faculty (3.5 h)

The Office for Postdoctoral Fellows is planning to run two cohorts in FY2022, each having up to 50 participants. We are currently accepting applicants for the Fall 2021 cohort which runs from Oct 13, 2021- Feb 11, 2022. A certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of the course.
