The efficient production of quality asphalt mixes requires an understanding and a knowledge toolbox to resolve issues. CalAPA offers our " Troubleshooting HMA Production -- Things Don't Always Work Out According to Plan" class, a lively and interactive forum. The class is taught by nationally noted consultant Terry "TJ" Young (pictured). This class will focus exclusively on several Hot Mix Asphalt quality challenges that are regularly experienced during the production of HMA. Young will cover the source of the issues and the best practices used to resolve them quickly.
Topics addressed during this session include:
• Troubleshooting Gradation Problems
• Troubleshooting Asphalt Problems
• Troubleshooting Voids Variation
• Common Causes of Segregation
NOTE: This class will be delivered IN PERSON only. Participants will be able to ask questions and have them answered during the class. All attendees will receive a certificate of completion. All participants will also receive a copy of a handy reference book, which includes copies of all slides, a list of acronyms, glossary of terms, safety checklists and more. Refreshments will be served, and a complementary lunch is available for all attendees from noon until 1 p.m.
Who should attend? This class is ideal for HMA production personnel, materials engineers, testing technicians, specification writers, Quality Control managers, paving inspectors, production, owner/agency personnel and top management overseeing plant operations. Attendees are encouraged to "customize" their experience by sharing their HMA quality challenges and questions with the instructor and attendees to collaborate on solutions and answers. The best practices covered in this session will help you increase efficiency and quality during the production of asphalt mixes.
