2022 NASA and the Space Race

K-12 teachers attending this 3-day colloquium at Kennedy Space Center will learn about the role of innovation in American history since the Cold War era Space Race to the race to space now by a new generation of entrepreneurs and inventors. An NCHE team including a historian and education specialist will model strategies for using primary sources to engage students, build historical thinking skills, and construct knowledge. Explore Kennedy Space Center and learn to use resources from the Library of Congress collections in your classroom. Create a lesson for your students with the guidance of the NCHE team. Teachers receive a $500 stipend and a one-year membership in the National Council for History Education. Continental breakfast and lunch provided. Presented as part of our Technology's Impact in American History grant from the Library of Congress' Teaching with Primary Sources program.
