#1 Alabama vs #12 Ole Miss Game Watch Party

The Tide will be welcoming Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss back to Tuscaloosa this weekend.

To start, for all Twitter trolling Kiffin enjoys, his love and respect for Alabama, the players, and even Coach Saban is evident. Just take a scroll through his tweets and you'll see him cheering on his former Bama players in their NFL careers, remembering his time with the Tide fondly, and referring to Alabama and Coach Saban as the GOAT.

Coming off of an early bye week, Ole Miss should be looking well rested and practiced. Perhaps your pregame should include some Aprin and deep breaths.

We'll have to see how they look on Saturday, but the Ole Miss defense has allowed over 20 points for Louisville and Tulane, and 17 points for Austin Peay, who was added to the Alabama 2022 schedule. But those powder blue helmets have had no trouble crossing into the end zone, averaging 52 points in those 3 games. In the win over Tulane, QB Matt Coral tied a school record of 7 touchdowns in a single game, set in 1951 by Arnold "Showboat" Boykin.

So far this year, Ole miss has had 896 rushing yards (607 for Alabama) compared to 1,010 receiving (1,255 for Alabama). The two star wide receivers appear to be Dontario Drummond and Jonathan Mingo, who together make up a wopping 62% of receiving yards this year. The Ole Miss star rushers are Jerrion Ealy, Henry Parrish, Jr. and QB Matt Corral. Not afraid to run if he needs to, Corral (junior) has rushed an average of 52.6 yards in the past 3 games, compared to the about 52 yard average Tim Tebow displayed in his entire junior year at Florida and 70 yard average his senior year.

Besides going for pleasant strolls, Matt Corral also spends his Saturdays dominating defenses, with 997 passing yards, 9 touchdowns and 0 interceptions thus far in 2021. Corral has displayed a 68.8% completion rate...but Bryce Young is looking a tad better, boasting a 72.1% completion rate. It's true, the Crimson Tide defense will be Corral's first real test of the season, but the 6', 200 lbs Californian is certainly ready for a rematch after Ole Miss fell to Alabama last year, 63-48 (what a game!).

The Alabama defense will need to be prepared to chase down Corral if he can't find an open receiver, which should be the case if defense is doing their job. This weekend, Lane Kiffin's first game back in Tuscaloosa, will pit two Heisman contendors against each other (Corral and Young). In home games against Ole miss, Alabama is 37-2-1 all-time, with the last loss being in 2015 when the Tide still went on to win a national title.

If you thought Florida was an exciting game, get ready. Clearly we expect Ole Miss to put up a fight and

We'll see you at Coscino's Italian Grill on Saturday, October 2. Kick-off is at 2:30, but please plan to arrive at 2:00. You'll see the Sanctuary Room just inside the door to the left of the hostess stand.

Roll Tide!
