Centering & Decentering Yourself in the Work (2nd offering)

Because of interest in this training, we are offering a second opportunity for individuals who cannot attend the October 7 session. Registration for this session is limited, so please register as soon as possible. This session will not be recorded; please register only if you can attend. If you cannot attend, please complete this form and we'll circle back if additional learning opportunities on this topic are available.

This interactive session will encourage self-reflection and foster discussion on how we can find a balance within both our personal and professional lives. First, we center ourselves through intentional work to sustain our health and growth in the movement, including addressing and healing from burnout. Then, we decenter ourselves by actively interrogating ideas about power, including who has the ability and right to lead.

Presenter Olivia Samples will guide us in more deeply understanding the concepts of centering and de-centering through an anti-racist lens and how practices to center and decenter can lead us to accomplish more collectively.

  • Learn about the importance of community care and strategies for sustaining it.
  • Brainstorm how organizations can help prevent and address burnout.
  • Define what decentering means and how to work from margin to center.
  • Discuss how you can use the power you have to make space for the leadership of those most impacted by your work.
