New Castle's History and Heritage 

As we look back at global and national events of the past few years, we are struck by how incredibly important understanding history is for making sense of modern events. Whether people have a good understanding of history or not, their perception of history clearly influences their reactions to contemporary events and interactions with each other.

Another thing is very clear – effective history education is vital for people living in modern American society. It is imperative to understand the history of the American republic in order to understand the diverse peoples that call themselves Americans, and to chart a path forward while acknowledging the mistakes and successes of the past.

We know you value quality history education as much as we do. As a supporter of the New Castle Historical Society, you have already made a difference in the public’s understanding of New Castle and Delaware history. Your support has brought school children to New Castle on field trips, provided free lectures and webinars to the public, and opened up important historic sites for tours. You have preserved important historical resources including buildings, artifacts, documents, and photographs, and ensured they will be available for future generations.
