About this event

The "Inspire" Seminar Series was developed by Enventure to help students learn about the reality of working in the biotech and biomedical fields. The series consists of a number of events starring guest speakers coming from different areas in the biotech and biomedical industries.

This particular event will star Dr. Alyssa Johnston, PhD, AstraZeneca Medical Science Liaison. For her graduate research, Alyssa investigated the effect that antipsychotics had on the growth and development of breast cancer in a specialized mouse model. After graduating with her PhD, she joined Nexcelom Bioscience as a Field Application Scientist (FAS) and worked on developing customer relations and technical troubleshooting for scientific projects. Following her tenure as an FAS at Nexcelom, Alyssa became a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for NS Pharma in the therapeutic area of neuromuscular disorders. Currently, Alyssa is a MSL at AstraZeneca specializing in GI/GU/Head & Neck Oncology. She is the study lead for a gastric cancer clinical trial, tumor lead for several liver cancer trials, and also works on several IITs. She is the field medical trainer for the pan tumor team and works on sustainability projects including inclusion and diversity projects.

Participants attending this event will learn about the story of Dr. Johnston and her experiences from graduate school to her current role. In addition, there will be a final Q&A where the audience will be able to ask direct questions to Dr. Johnston.
