Disaster Loss Updates: Speaker - Carol W Thompson, EA - a NYSSEA 3 CE Webinar - December 16, 2021

Disaster Loss Updates will provide the latest rules for those working with disaster victims. 2021 saw the worst wildfires in history, hurricanes, tornadoes, severe flooding, drought, and loss of life and property. We will review the basic rules to report a disaster loss, the newest rules passed by Congress, new FEMA regulations affecting tax returns, and how to report the loss on the tax return. The material provided contains dozens of important websites that will help preparers find the information needed to help their clients. We will briefly discuss working with the victims of a major disaster who have suffered losses of property. This material is a resource guide for the victims of the 2021 disasters as well as information for current clients - before the next one.
