11/20/21 DDS Metro MRS Speaks Out Food Drive
MRS Speaks Out is our Metro region self advocacy group. The group is made up of individuals we support and other interested members of the DDS community. On their own, they organized a bake sale and chose to donate all proceeds back to a charty of their choice.
This group of folks never ceases to amaze with their selflessness and generosity. The Bristol lodge food pantry and homeless shelter in Waltham is the recipient of the food drive items and a market basket gift card will aslo be donated.
Sandy from Bristol Lodge said Thanksgiving will be challenging again for folks, as they won't be able to have as many sit down meals, due to covid. She shared they are thrilled to receive any nonperishable donations but in particular, items for bag and go thanksgiving meals like boxes of stuffing, canned vegetables, individually packaged desserts etc.
We will meet on the 20th in St Jude’s parking lot for drop off . I was thinking of setting up a little table with warm cider, tea, cocoa and some snacks for folks to hang for a bit and chat. Some of the other self advocate groups as well as the new Metro Regional Coordinator for MASS are interested in contributing as well. It will be fun to connect with some new people.
