#2 Alabama vs #25 Arkansas

Looking back on last Saturnday's victory over New Mexico St, Coach Saban feels that though the "execution was not always perfect", the Tide is "certainly improved". The AP moving Bama's ranking up to #2 (matching the CFP) seems to suggest that perhaps that was noticed by others.  Bryce Young improved his completion rate to 70.9%, B-Rob rushed for 99 yards, and Jameson Williams had 158 receiving yards.

It has been several years since Arkansas was a formidable opponent, but they have certianly found themselves once again in our rearview mirror as they build up their team with Coach Sam Pittman. They played hard against LSU and won, in overtime. It should be expected that any SEC matchup could be explosive, no matter the teams.

For the Razorbacks this Saturday, Saban is looking forward to a great atmosphere in our final home game of the 2021 season, "It's been a great atmosphere to play in, and certainly need it to be that way for this game". Saban recognizes the Tide needs to be able to move fast against the high tempo Arkansas impliments. He commented on Arkansas' ability to play well together and effectiveness on running, preventing turnovers, and having a good pass defense.

Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman commented on needing to prepare to face the Bama defense, specifically Will Anderson and Henery To'oTo'o.  He also mentioned that several of our players were recruits he went after and failed to secure while at Georgia. "Bama's Bama, and they've beat people for a long time doing what they do", Pittman stated in this week's press conference. He admitted that Tide coaches and players will be looking at game footage from Arkansas/LSU to strategize.

Something to keep an eye on this weekend...a running quarterback. Arkansas' second best rushing yards stat comes from QB KJ Jefferson, who has rushed for 474 years this year, averaging 4.4 yards per carry. So if he can't find an opening, he's going to attempt to gain yards himself.

Razorbacks to Watch:

  • QB KJ Jefferson - 65% completion rate
  • RB Trelon Smith - 513 rushing yards, 5.1 avg
  • RB Raheim Sanders - 460 rushign yards, 5/3 avg
  • RB Dominique Johnson - 456 rushing yards, 6.4 avg
  • WR Treylon Burks - 796 receiving yards, 15.6 avg

We'll see you at Coscino's Italian Grill on Saturday. Kick-off is at 2:30pm, start arriving at 2:00pm. You'll see the Sanctuary Room just inside the door to the left of the hostess stand.
