From Scratch weekend is a workshop designed for true beginners. If you’re interested in learning a new instrument or art form, this is the weekend for you. This year’s offerings include classes with master musicians, foraging, blacksmithing, and from scratch baking. With more than 1,140 acres of forest consisting of breathtaking canyons, waterfalls, miles of hiking trails, and glistening streams, there’s plenty of exploring to do during your free time. Take a hike, go canoeing, or pick a porch and rocking chair to relax.

All Alabama Folk School students will be asked to show proof of full vaccination to attend. If you are not fully vaccinated, you will be required to provide proof of a negative covid test within 48 hours of arrival and be prepared to be fully masked for all indoor gatherings including during class and in the common spaces of your lodge. Please make your plans accordingly. All of our staff and instructors are fully vaccinated. Some of them are part of high risk groups so your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
