Instagram for Libraries - Webinar (01/20/22)

This in-depth and hands-on Instagram workshop is suitable for libraries (or library staff) who are new to the platform as well as those with more experience. We'll cover:

  • The logistics. Including the four types of Instagram post: Grid, Stories, Reels, and IGTV - the differences between them and now they can work together.
  • Content types. What to post, what works well and what doesn't, what matters to your audiences- Captions and accessibility. Instagram is of course a visual medium but the words matter a lot too, as do alt-text and video descriptions.
  • Analytics. How do we measure success and what do we look for to help us improve?- Building an audience. Posting engaging content to build up the number of users who'll see and hear your key messages

Feedback from Ned's previous social media workshops:

  • “Very, very worthy use of my time, and enjoyable too! This will spur me and my colleagues on to continue improving our social media practices. Excellently organized and delivered course. Thank you.”
  • “Ned Potter was a very engaging speaker and structured the session perfectly, taking us through the best practice for each social media tool. I have now discovered new analytical tools that will be useful in improving our library’s social media engagement. He also offered very useful advice in terms of what content is purposeful to put out on social media.”
  • ”I really enjoyed the day, opened my eyes to lots of new tools and made me realize that digital marketing doesn’t have to be Facebook”
  • ”Wide range of useful applications given with practical tips on how to use them. Time flew by and was really productive.”
  • ”Really enjoyed the day - I enjoyed the mixture of listening and hands-on practical work.I liked the relaxed style of the day. I learnt a lot and came away filled with ideas for better/new usage of social media. Thanks very much - really beneficial day.”.
