Please join us for the upcoming training on Wednesday, June 15th for Power and Privilege in Ethical and Clinical Decision Making with Sarah Porter, MSW, LCSW.

All proceeds go towards the Al Forthan Scholarship.

Power and Privilege in Ethical and Clinical Decision Making

Featuring: Sarah Porter, MSW, LCSW

When: 8:30am-12:00pm

Purpose

Participants will be able to understand how power and privilege are present in decision making about complex cases, agency policy or other areas where there are ethical or moral challenges. 
Participants will be able to describe 3 ways to mitigate the impacts of power and privilege in these situations. 

 

Sarah Porter, MSW, LCSW

Sarah Porter, MSW, LCSW (she/her) is a licensed clinical social worker and Assistant Professor of Practice at the School of Social Work at Portland State University.  Since graduating with her M.S.W in 2001, Sarah's social work practice is concentrated in health care settings, specifically with pediatrics, pediatric hematology/oncology and pediatric palliative care. Her practice specialties include integrated behavioral healthcare, pediatric hematology/oncology (including sickle cell anemia), palliative care and social work in clinical ethics (pediatric bioethics). She is an active senior member of a community-based hospital’s pediatric clinical ethics consultation service in Portland, Oregon.
