I AM ABEL FOUNDATION is closing the gap while preparing our Chicago area students for careers in medicine and service to humanity. Join us for our milestone event celebrating our HEROES GALA !

It will be an amazing evening of inspiration, entertainment and all things roaring 20s as we celebrate Chicago's Heroes in Healthcare as well as our Future Heroes! Join us at the beautiful Idlewild Country Club in Flossmoor!  Come in your roaring 20s attire or just come as you are and help us celebrate doing the work of healthcare equity and diversity.

Heroes look a lot like our celebrants of the evening.  Please help us to celebrate four of Chicago's treasures who have devoted their lives to the health and well beging of our vulnerable and underserved communities, patients and students. Their sacrifices and gifts of service to Chicago could never be adequately quantified.  They are simply the best.

Enjoy mesmerizing live music during our cocktail hour. Your generous gift will support our future physicians through world class mentoring and scholarly programs that focus on preparing Chicago area underrepresented youth for careers in medicine and global health humanitarian service locally and abroad.

Annually we also celebrate the inspiring journey of our HEROES IN HEALTHCARE who have championed the causes of those underserved and underrepresented in medicine.

Our Mission

The I Am Abel Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that seeks to bridge socioeconomic gaps and promote achievement amongst underrepresented inner city youth with a focus on high school, college and post-baccalaureate students.  Our students are competively selected but many lack the tools, confidence or mentoring that is required to navigate the complicated and challenging journey to medicine. We are their bridge and support and vow to follow them from our pinning ceremony to their white coat ceremony in medical school.  Through our programming and mentoring we affirm our motto of Excellence Period. Serve Always.

We seek to identify and engage the large pool of untapped gifts, intellect and talent among our inner city youth who are interested in careers in medicine and have a heart to serve and give back.  Our goal, through our physician mentoring, didactic seminars, medical study abroad, conferences as well as test taking and skill-building programs is to prepare our successors in medicine.  We promote college and medical school readiness and provide our scholars what many lack – an opportunity.  We are passionate about preparing our youth to address health disparities locally and abroad and to meet the coming massive physician shortage anticipated by the year 2025 if not sooner.  Please consider being a part of this amazing movement.  We are not only preparing our next generation of health care leaders.  We are changing our communities from the inside out.  If not us then who?

I AM ABEL FOUNDATION MCAT WARRIORS

I Am Abel Foundation's Summer MCAT Intensive at Northwestern Medcine 2021

It is a standardized exam for a reason.  In fact it is the first of many standardized exams that a future physician MUST pass to move further along in their careers.  Medical schools look at these exams to gauge how  well students may perform on future standardized exams that will be needed to even graduate medical school.

I Am Abel Foundation has identified some of the most talented, campassionat pre-med students in all of Chicago.  They just need help to "master the test."  Thankfully, with the proper test prep, coaching, testing and resources, scoring big on the MCAT is well within reach.   Studies show that standardized exams are tied closely tied to parental income.  Many students  in our MCAT program are college graduates that are supporting themselves financially.  Your support of the "Heroes Gala" will go to supporting our Summer and Fall/Spring MCAT Intensive Programs.  Your gift will fund 3rd party test prep materials like Blueprint and UWORLD and other tools that these students would never be able to afford on their own.  They also have access to world class tutoring and coaching and will have access to learning specialists if needed.

Your Support will make the difference!  I Am Abel Foundation supported 6 students over summer 2021 and currently have 11 students in the Fall/Spring program.  We already have 4 students accepted into medical school this year alone! We won't stop until these amazing students are prepared to successfully matriculate into medical school.   Why?  Because we need them in medicine!  They are our next generation of Healthcare Heroes.  If not us then who?
